Regular organic-based feeds through the year, a proper scarify and hollow-tine aeration and a professional deciding what your lawn needs and when. Priced by lawn size and paid monthly, so the cost is the same in January as it is in June.
A Year of Lawn Care, Mapped Out in Advance
Moray lawns have their own habits. The coast here is one of the driest and sunniest parts of Scotland, with roughly 700 mm of rain a year against 1,700 mm or more in the west, and the sandy soils around Elgin, Lossiemouth and Fochabers drain fast. That means grass under drought stress by June, moss moving into the thin patches over winter and not fit enough to withstand leatherjackets after a wet autumn.
The Lawn Programme deals with all of it on a calendar: feed and weed treatments every eight weeks through the growing season, then scarifying and hollow-tine aeration in autumn to clear the thatch and open the soil. Bob, who spent years keeping golf greens, sets the dates and adjusts them to the weather. You choose either the standard or premium programme and pay one even monthly amount.
What We Offer
Each programme includes the three core treatments below. Premium adds year-round protection that turns a good lawn into a dense one.
Feed and weed treatments
Granular, organic-based fertiliser applied every eight weeks from spring to autumn, with selective weed control by NPTC-certified staff. Keep off the lawn for an hour or two after a feed and leave it uncut for three or four days; we will remind you.
Scarifying
A mechanical rake that pulls out thatch (the layer of dead grass and moss that stops water and air reaching the soil). Our commercial scarifiers pull far more than ordinary scarifiers, and our professional staff know just how to set them up to get the right balance of how much to pull out each time.
Hollow-tine aeration
A machine punches out small plugs of soil so air, water and feed reach the roots and compaction eases. We lift the cores and recycle them, leaving the lawn tidy.

Questions About Your lawn?
Earlier than most online guides suggest. The RHS advises gardeners in Scotland to start autumn lawn work in September, and that is our window in Moray: September into October, once the summer dry spell has passed and the grass is growing strongly enough to fill the gaps the scarifier leaves. Scarifying too late, into a cold November, leaves bare soil that moss colonises over winter. Spring scarifying is also good housekeeping for your lawn, clearing out the moss that may have crept in over the winter.
We feed every eight weeks through the growing season, five times a year on the Standard programme. Premium adds an additional winter prep treatment as growth slows, which suits the long, mild autumns we get on the Moray coast
It deals with the reasons moss wins: thin grass, compacted soil, thatch and low fertility. Scarifying clears what is there, aeration lets the soil breathe and regular feeding thickens the grass so moss has nowhere to settle. There is no permanent cure for moss; it returns to any lawn where the conditions stay the same, which is why we treat it as a yearly cycle.
Established lawns can turn brown in a Moray dry spell and recover when the rain comes back; watering them is rarely worth it, although when done in conjunction with our drought assist programme and in the right way can be beneficial. On the Premium Programme, the summer drought assist schedule supports the grass through those weeks, and we advise a higher cut and, in severe conditions, to hold off feeding until growth returns. Harold in Nairn put it well after one dry season: "Despite all the drought we have had, the grass has really flourished here since the early summer feed."
We run lawn care as a programme because one scarify on its own does not last. If you would like the lawn sorted properly, the Standard programme is the starting point and it is priced by lawn size, so a smaller lawn costs less each month.
No. As long as we can reach the lawn and the gate is unlocked, we will do the work and let you know when it is done, along with any aftercare notes.
